Erik Christy
CIRM Bridge Intern
Erik is a CIRM/BSCRIP intern and a Master’s student in Molecular Biology at San Diego State University. Within the Tian lab, he is focused on uncovering the molecular mechanisms of aging and epigenetic regulation, with particular interest in how chromatin dynamics shape cellular function during aging. With a prior background in mechanical engineering (University of Washington, 2016), he brings an interdisciplinary perspective to biology, integrating systems-level thinking with a passion for regenerative science. He is developing experience in molecular biology, chromatin profiling, and bioinformatic approaches to aging research. His long-term goal is to identify therapeutic targets for age-related rejuvenation and to pursue a Ph.D. in aging biology. Beyond academia, Erik is excited about the translation of aging research into therapeutic strategies and biotechnology innovation. Outside the lab, he enjoys riding motorcycles, watching ocean sunsets, and sharing thoughtful conversations over espresso.
